Black scarlet pleco

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All I have are koi and I want something different. I saw on a website that has a chart that plecos are compatible with koi then I fell in love with the L25 pictured and stupidly pushed the buy it now button before reading more. Then I read that they can kill koi and change colors and I stareted getting worried I made a really stupid choice.

I think the water parameters will be good for pleco. My koi are in heated tanks 74-75 degrees. They are happiest at this temp even though they are poop factories I keep the tank immaculate and water params spot on. My water is a bit hard but I read they can adjust and driftwood can help. My only concern now is that she may destroy my beautiful expensive tank driftwood. I wonder if tossing in a small piece of mopani every day drilled and stuffed with a food pellet or a piece of zucchini will keep her away from the driftwood?

These plecos are meat eaters.. they do not really destroy the wood... I would increase the temp a bit thought for L25

not sure a good choice with koi. They like really warm water probably around 80. I don't keep koi but pretty sure that is too warm for them.

Thank you. I can keep the tank at 80. Koi are ok up to 85 but they should not be fed at over 80.
