Moot point but

L25s prefer temp 75.2-78.8. Since neither(Koi or pleco) like it up at 80...I would not have turned it that high.

I think there's a lot of misinformation about koi temps out there. Koi are actually healthiest kept at 70-80 degrees. Lowering temps in the winter slows their immune system down and puts them at risk of infections that flair up in the spring.

Hazorae equatics Koi purposely keeps their koi at 73-79 degrees year round. I keep my koi at 70-80 year round and they also can have it up to 87 to get rid of infections. There is a concern that they will not have enough dissolved oxygen at higher temps so they need plenty of aeration and some people worry that speeding up their metabolism might shorten their life span but there is no proof of this.

I have 5 bristlenose pleco in my discus tank at 83-87 degrees and they are thriving.
