Tractor supply company is the only place you can get blasting sand. I used a pillow case to rinse mine, then I put it in the tank. The tank clouded pretty bad, but it was clear within a few hours (although I've heard it can take up to a few days). They sell sand in the lfs, but they charge a ridiculous amount for it. I picked up an 50 pound bag of the blasting sand for $8. Looks awesome.

I got 4 50 lb. bags today @ tractor supply for $7.95/bag. Thanks for the help... And also for the info to rinse first. Just makes sense, but I have been known to do some pretty stupid stuff! for example, I'm setting up my first salt water tank ever, and I bought a used 115 gallon tank, 6 bags of sea salt sand, and about 40 lbs. of live rock; but I didn't realize I needed to add salt to the water, so the live rock died!

That's my tank with the sand. I'll get a picture of my catfish tank when I can (we converted that to sand too). There aren't any tractor supply stores around North Idaho either. Luckily my guy drives long haul for a living, so he grabbed a few bags when he was going through Cali.
