Black tip shark

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I agree - the tank is way too small for even a juvenile Blacktip reef. These sharks are highly active and need a large swimming pool size(25,000+ gallons) tank/pond to keep for life. Even juveniles need at least tank/pond of at least 150-180 sq.ft. and a volume of 3,000-6,000 gallons to live in for the first 2 years.

Grey smoothound, white tip reef shark, Atlantic fine tooth.

Not in that size of pond. Atlantic Finetooths need a tank roughly the same size as Blacktip reefs. Whitetip reefs need a tank/pond that at least 500 sq.ft and 15,000 gallons to life for it's normal life span. Gray Smoothhounds need a pond/tank with a footprint of at least 80 sq.ft and 1,200-1,500 gallons just to reach maturity, and for life it would be more like 175-200 sq.ft. footprint and 4,000 gllons in volume.

Year old thread???

Yeah, white tip reef sharks and smooth hounds make great 'shark' looking sharks for those with limited space.

Not sure if shark would be the ideal person to give advice at this point. No offense but shark keeping and advice pertaining there to should only be attempted by experienced keepers.
