I will say that if you have a glass tank there's little reason not to just spray paint it. Worst case scenario if you don't like it you can razor it off in a matter of minutes. As long as you don't screw it up royally (harder to do than it sounds really) I doubt you will want to remove it though. It's a fairly simple task and the end result looks incredible. I will never own a tank that doesn't have the back painted black again after seeing how good it makes this one look.

That being said, I can see a use for this if you have an acrylic tank. Being softer than glass the ability to just razor it off if you don't like it becomes a little more dicey. It can be done and any cuts can be polished out but I think if you do it slowly with a clean, fresh blade and take your time it's still removable.

I think that's the draw of spray paint is it's inexpensive and easy to do. I thought it seemed daunting as well but once you mask off your rims and the sides it's as simple as laying on light even coats and letting them dry plenty between coats. Pretty easy.

Just playing devil's advocate I suppose since I've painted.
