Finally put bw extract in my tank..my shoal freaked first to this random black liquid being loaded in. After, they started acting weird! They don't even care about me staring at them infront of the tank.. They are also super active and fighting a lot! Im going to feed them right now becuz they seem like they are hungry. What is going on?! ;P

Why did you add bw to the tank??

I had to look it up. So others know also.

* Freshwater conditioner helps replicate natural blackwater environment

* Contains trace elements, vitamins, and extract of peat to promote fish health

* Excellent water conditioner for soft water fish including angelfish, discus, and tetras

Peat-extract formula replicates the clear, Amazon-type blackwater conditions in the home aquarium. Blackwater Extract contains trace elements and vitamins to promote fish activity levels. It creates an environment similar to parts of the Amazon River and other natural blackwater biotopes. Great for discus, angelfish, tetras, and killifish. For freshwater aquariums. 8.45 fl oz treats 250 gallons.

I think it makes the reds feel more comfortable ? It's actually made them more aggressive! Lol either way win win for me. More active means healthy fishes >.>

Same crap I've been using almost a year for mine, just add a cap or 2 every wc cuz a 50% wc will take half the product out. It's some powerful stuff, best way to add it the first time is get a water bottle pour 2 caps in it, fill with water, shake and pour 1/4 of the bottle into the tank, let sit for a minute and if u want darker add another 1/4, that way if u don't need it all u don't waste it. First time I added it I straight poured 30% of the bottle into my tank, needless to say my water was 100% black, couldnt see my fishes at all even with lites on, had to do a 75% wc to get it to a dark brown, man that was rough lol.

I love the stuff and I swear by it.

Good man Afro, following some good advice!

From home made peat brew to Indian almond leaves to most every brand of extract tried and this is by far the best. 1 cap is good for 40-50gals.
