Tigrinus? I just looked those up and they're super nice looking. But still not it. The stripes on the one my brother got are 1 stripe along each side and run from mouth to tail (from what I can remember). I'm going to have to just get a picture. But I do appreciate the ideas and have found some cool catfish I'd never heard of.

You didnt tell me properly i cant help u... i seen alot of catfish b4..

whats the point of guessing without pics? This is like saying hey theres a guy over there and then blindfiring clip after clip into the darkness.

You know, a lot of juvenile RTCs don't have a red tail, especially at that small size. I wouldn't rule it out just yet. There are too many "How do I make my RTC's tail red" threads to assume your guy isn't an RTC due to his tail color!

This is interesting. The fish looks identical to a Red Tail catfish except no red on the tail. That's why I wondered if anyone knew of a kind of catfish that looked identical aside from the red. That sucks though because they get bigger than I want :-/
Thanks for that info!

lol Yea right-like I wouldn't get 20 different answers if I posted a picture :)

did it look like this? if it does then you have an rtc note the non red tail...they get it as they get older...

Yes, sbuse-identical to that. That's why I kept saying it looked just like a RTC with no red. I didn't know the red wasn't always there. Well that just totally sucks they get so big. I was hoping it was some species that didn't get over a foot or so. I guess my brother's will end up out in his pond then :-O
Thanks for the picture-yep, that's it.

pointless without a pic still if its 'identical' to the pic above then clearly it is an RTC.
