Yes, sbuse-identical to that. That's why I kept saying it looked just like a RTC with no red. I didn't know the red wasn't always there. Well that just totally sucks they get so big. I was hoping it was some species that didn't get over a foot or so. I guess my brother's will end up out in his pond then :-O
Thanks for the picture-yep, that's it.

no prob. that was my old rtc before it died...as for that pond is it heated?...i have quail hunted down in/around woodward,ok and it got damn cold inbetween cristmas and new years more so at night...to cold for a south american cat for sure...

It's like a 1/2 acre pond but no, it's not heated....that may be a problem. The LFS took it in when someone was breaking down their tank and just called it "south american catfish". I doubt they knew or cared what it is or that fact it gets 4'. That's just a damn shame because I fell in love with it when I saw it yesterday. You know......I can build a pond, we've got 5 acres total here.....I've always wanted a pond. And that catfish is the coolest catfish. He's going to outgrow my brother's 150 g tank soon. I really think I want to do that, build a pond for it. What better fish to build a pond for??

I was thinkin it was a imbreed rtc

What do you mean?

it was a joke like inbred humans(sometimes get messed up) inbreed fish (messed up) hahaha............no...........?

Oh. Well, they don't have to be inbred to not have red tails at three inches... in fact, most don't. Most LFS feed these little cats filthy feeders with little nutritional value, so they aren't getting the foods we can feed to enhance the tail color... feed some shrimp mixed in with the rest of the menu, and watch his tail color up!

it was a joke i wasnt serious.......
