ok Gino- youll be the first to know- and if I was a betting man, Id bet that youll want the gar too- it could be happening pretty soon too, because Im thinking about putting a breeding project in the pond now- I just have to figure out what would be a doable species thats worth the time and effort

alright just shoot me a PM whenever you decide to get rid of them

I spoke too soon- and I was just as surprised as I thought Id be- the second to the worst possible thing happened(no one died, which would have been worse)-
This afternoon I had an MFK friend over so we could put his existing lights into a canopy that I just finished for him- we walked inside for a minute to see what the fish were up to, thats when I saw my original black that I reared from a baby, sitting near the bottom- some aros do that from time to time- this black isnt one of them... my biggest indo is the dominant dat in the tank, and shes pretty tiger aggressive- but now out of nowhere she charges the black like shes on a mission- she doesnt even charge the other tigers like she did to the black, so the black pathetically tried squirming backwards, only to get stopped by the newer black snapping hard at his still healing tail-
remember this is the black whose tail and scales are still healing from the jump- and now the fresh scales are peeled down, top to bottom- they were curled back like the top of a hobos chili can- like sort of peeled -
I have the two arowana tanks in one room, and obviously the water has similar parameters, so after a quick check of the temperature, I pull the 8"ish saratoga that was nearly alone in the 115g, and toss him into the 220g- then toss the one that took the beat down into the 115g
Wimpy perked up right away- the other two were already flared up and about to get it on- all the other fish in the tank were in full hiding- it looked like they all knew that Rodan was going to take another shot at Godzillas title- lots of chasing and then stopping hard and turning around, but no contact...yet

so far its just a show of flexing and full finnage

theyre not trying to get to know each other- theyre sizing up the enemy

even though the saratoga is the new guy to the tank, and around 7" smaller...

without question, he is going to be the instigator when the feces hits the fan

if this doesnt work, and Im not holding my breath that it will- I still have a few more possibilities to explore-
>hopefully the dented black will be able to make its return to the ring and help spread the fury out
>after that idea fails too, the next option will be the return of silver from the pond
- but now Ill have 2x15'ers, a 16"er, and a mean 8"er, all crammed in a 220g that was already full of other fish
>and the last resort, would be to put them all in the 700g tropical pond- the link to that is in my signature, along with a link to a picture of chester going kakadoodie

Wow...surprised you are willing to take the risk.

eventhough it's nice without cichla, I think cichla would be great in that tank

I suspect that even if this was a guppy tank, you would prefer it if pbass was in it!

you just want an update because you did all the hard work, by catching the silver from the pond- thanks again, I wouldve been soaked

The latest attempt was started about 2 weeks ago, I had some of of my MFK friends over, and it was decided to go for the gold- so we rounded up the strays- the silver came in from the pond and my original black from the recovery tank- as of today its still kicking a$s- but not each others!
