How do u go about making the water "black", do the fish mind, pros and cons, maintenance, does it effect water quality, anything else I need to know?

u can use driftwood or indian almond leave/oak leaves and some people use organic peats. fish love this kind of water. it also lowers the ph. all fish from south america should love this kind of water.

What makes the water "Black" are the tannins that come from wood and leaves in the water and is basically really acidic water. You can add peat and wood to your tank to make it a black water tank.

I would say peat filtration and mopari wood. All depends on your tap ph and your target ph if you need both. The wood will leach tannins and lower ph so will peat but if you want the stained water the wood will do that it will turn the water a tea stained color. Far as pro and con you just need fish that thrive in those conditions for example RBP, angles, or discus. I guess the only cons IMO would be more limited stocking options and having to possibly switch wood out over time when it stop leaching. Maintenance will not really be any different.

Mopani wood probably releases the cleanest looking tannins IMO. I am a blackwater lover forever.

Well I have 2 Oscars an arowana and 2 blood parrots... And I jus got the blood parrots so I can take thos suckers back... Im not sure if I like em anyways but ya.... and a pleco too.. Would thos fiah like it I assume.... N why couldnt I jus go in my back yard n get wood n leaves... Is it something about all this crazy named stuff that is needed... Sry if thata a dumb ? But like I said I know nothong about it

Your aro and oscars will be fine they like lower ph not shure on the parrots but probably fine. You dont want leaves they will make a mess. Wood in aquariums needs to be suitable for aquarium driftwood for example. I suggested mopani cause its from the amazon and my personal favorite.

Ok so I been doing reading and it says if u want to keep the Blackwater look to remove the carbon in the filter.... If u do that how do u keep the ammonia under control?

Water changes, biological filtration, and tank maintenance.
