bleaching on new acro coral.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if a coral is completely bleached does it mean it is dead? the coral i received yesterday was all white also but i can see it tring to open up already.

If it is extending polyps...then no.

Just be slow to work it into the light now, you might shock it and kill it 100%. Although if it is completely white its 99% there as an SPS.

i think both of the acro i mounted on the rock are not going to make it. they are completely bleached and i havent seen any polyps yet.

the other acro that i set on the bottom and drip acclimated is extending polyps but isnt showing signs of color yet.

im thinking this could be due to the corals going from metal halide to led lighting.

apparently acro are more sensitive then most corals.

Yea, acros will die before pretty much everything else...you need some of my "Bombproof" acro's series haha

i think i need to be a little more patient with acro's. i have a magnetic mounted frag rack im going to use. the plan is to start at the bottom if the tank and raise my last healthy acro a little at a time until its at the height i want to mount it.

live aquaria credited me the 2 corals that didnt make it. they said they dont think it was my fault. i may get 2 more.

Dang, yea they are pretty good about that.

A lot of people actually take advantage of how nice they are, and abuse their policy. But...needless to say, great customer service.

Good luck with the next batch.

yea they are.

over the last week i slowly moved my surviving acro towards the top and then mounted it. right now i only have the lights on 7 hours.

cross your fingers.

ok im taking on a new name.. "The SPS Killer" . apparently i dont have enough experience to handle these or something in the water is not what the tests are showing me. the last 1 doesnt look to good.

i might just stick with hardier types of hard corals.
