I am aware of the initial cross and have no claim against it.

But why are BP' invariably red, orange, with a possible smite of black, and the above shown examples mostly barred?

Not all F1 will have the fading gene so some never turn orange/red/yellow. Its a matter of line breeding in those genes.

Yup I still has a unfaded parrot here. He was like that for 9 years since I owned him.

Nice thread. Quick question though. If it looks like a parrot and it is a parrot... then why do so many people look down on tattoed or dyed parrots? Its like saying a tatted up man won't produce the same genes he's born with. Granted the ink within the fish might or will shorten the fishes life(I personally don't know) but if it was to spawn it will still produce parrot genes. Is it a problem when breeding them because no one knows the base color of the fish except for the one that inked it? Also I wonder if there is any variations from switching the male and female(female cit/male syn) to create them? Like a different hue of color or maybe a better chance a creating a fertile male...

Pretty sure the best parrot colors came from other hybrids crossed into them like srs or whatever it was they had at the time. Otherwise the faders would all be closer to wild type midas and we would not be seeing the great reds and pink. I believe super red syn was the fish responsible.

Not saying midas colors are bad i kind of wish I had a parrot with that creamsicle midas pattern but the deep red parrots are something else.

I have yet to see an adult barred ( or wild midas type looking ) blood parrot.

As said, all orange, red, now and then with some black ( that tends to disappear )

On another note, and sitll not questioning the citrinellum x sysnpillum origin, why would this cross give this particularly morphologically strange fish?

There are countless examples of hybrids out there and all look like " normal" CA's in morphological aspect. And a lot of these hybrids are the result of crosses betwen amphis and viejas.

Why this particularly different fush, with these two original species?

People don't like them because its morally wrong. Most die in the dying/tattoo/mutilation process and have a shorter lifespan which is a big reason why its oppessed.

It is not only a morality issue.

It is torture.
