so do you guys think it's possible?i really like hybrids as long as they are not completely f'ed up looking. my parrot lays eggs every month or so and i've been trying to decide on a compatible mate for her. i like a lot of c/sa cichlids, but i wanted something unique to mix with her. i was debating between a firemouth (although common, they are beautiful), but i don't think they are nearly closely related enough to produce offspring, a flowerhorn (just gets too big for me), and a green terror. although the GTs are not closely related, i thought i'd give it a try. i have them in a tank alone with driftood, flowerpot, and other stones.. hopefully it will work. if not, i'll live. :D :D :D

ok, newsflash already..
so just out of thinking, i decided to add some blackwater expert in the tank since i have some java fern in there and i know it will appreciate it..
now, to my surprise, my parrot is digging and pushing gravel out from this piece of driftwood like crazy. the GT is only about 1.5". i don't think he can "put out" can he?

the gt is to small to spawn wait till he is about 4-6 inch and give it a try it would be a crazy looking fish i would like to have a hybred like that i think.

these to big for you?-RD, JD, texas, convict, sevrum, festae

Dude i would love a rd with a jd that would be awsome is that even possible?

A RD/JD that would be an awesome looker GT/BP it would interesting i haven't saw many gt hybrids anyways go for it.

Don't think it will happen..

Most Hybrids are of the Cichlasoma type, due to their very similiar spawning behavior. The parrot fish is an offspring of 2 Cichlasomas, while the Green Terror is actually in the Aquidens family..

I believe the 2 families would make this near impossible, and that is why you don't see Green Terror hybrids. I never have.

Notice~ Most of the Hybrids are derived from the most 'common' Cichlasomas that have been bred for GENERATIONS in Aquaria, meaning they have less 'wild genetics' in them, and more 'artificial' means of breeding.

yea, i figured and pretty much know all that, but i figured, "what the hell". :nilly: :nilly: :nilly:

alright, here's another. what does everyone think about a firemouth? (compatability mating wise)

with the gt or the bp

i have seen gt hybrids but only with aquadins like blue acara
