there is an article from the high quality parrot breeders that says that red devil X red headed is what they use. go to happybreed.com and there is an article that tells what the two species are. if you can't get it in english, go to parrotcichlid.com and they have the article in english and chinese
However they are common used but they are NOT only two cichlids that used to created the blood parrot. I dont trust that article from parrotcichlid.com as its too confused for me.

Read the article, silly. It appeared that red devil x syn are commonly used but they also do some crossbreeding with other cichlids with their RED parrot.

it says in the article that the typical bp is rd x syn. it also says that for their fish, that they may add other species. the happy breed parrots are different than regular bps. they cost about ten times as much too.

I read the article. I thought you said you didn't trust that article anyway? Do you have a source you do trust that tells the parentage of the BP?

Excatly, the happy breed parrots doesnt looks like blood parrots, so they have to use different species to create the BP. Like Flowerhorns, Blood parrot's background is still mystery.
