one more thing... the JD has a tree that he ALWAYS hides in and wouldn't let the BP near it without confrontation, and now today what do you know, the JD is in the new decoration while the BP is in the tree...

ahah yeah well its true, the parrot already cant close his mouth, has a weird spine, and a beak. and combine that with a pleco... ridiculous lmao

You can post this and ask on the hybrid forum, but I'm relatively certain JD and BPs can't cross. My BPs occasionally move the gravel around and build little hills when they get bored though - its not just spawning behavior with them, although it sounds like it is in your case.
 
Mine did that same thing when spawing.. I have a male and female.. I guess they finally realized it wasn't happening.. because they haven't done it in a while..
