Blood parrots

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you could keep them all in there if you want man, its your fish and choice shes just saying somethings are most likely not going to make it long if you do

As far the original question.. I own a blood parrot, it was cheap and makes a decent dither in that they take a great beating and heal fast.

However i have a non closable mouth one and i think it looks stupid and is ugly.
The larger (i believe king kong parrots) that can close their mouths are kind of neat looking. tend to look less like a bulb with fins and giant eyes

i have 5 bp in a 135... 2 grew up to 6-7 inches and the other 3 never grew past 3 to 4 inches and have been that way for 2 years so a 55 gal for life is a possibility. as for the bp themselves if you like em thats all that matters.

The JD and parrot could possibly coexist in the 55 gallon especially if they turn out to be a M/F pair. The other three are so aggressive that there's no way it can work long-term to keep all those fish in that 55 gallon. I'm not trying to be the mean one, just trying to keep you from witnessing the bloodshed and murder that often results from a stocking list like yours.

Thanks guys, i understand, maybe i should trade up........

And my bp cant close its mouth either

I have they can't close their mouths personally I think they look like a cartoon character and it's kind of funny. Also blood parrots are not aggressive at all at least in my experience so I definitely would not have them with those fish.

As for the midas being aggressive, you need to chart it's personality on how it acts when you add a fish.

I have a 10" Midas that was kept with 3 midevils in a 90 gallon, and he was fine.

I now have him in a 180 with a Jag, 2 red terrors, 1 convict, 1 malawi hawk, and bichirs- he's a total puppy.

Blood parrots are pretty defenseless and shouldn't be kept with mean fish. They are extremely gentle and all they can do is push other fish with their heads. I feel sorry for them when I see them kept with aggessive cichlids.
