Blue Bifa

I agree with jgentry's comments.

Doesn't look like a typical bifa. Usually they are red and black with some yellow mixed in. Mine have pretty much no blue. Could be a different collection location or maybe there was a mix up with them. I'm sure if you email Jeff some pictures he can help you out. They are definately not what you would typically expect a bifa to look like though.
@lyc, I have never seen a 'bifasciatus' that looks like yours (that doesn't mean it doesn't exist though). The blue coloration is more like P. zonatus or sp. Coatzacoalcos have. Here's a pic of my 'bifasciatus' Rio Chacamax and my sp. Coatzacoalcos. Yours really doesn't look like either of these. Wonder what it is?

Jgentry just because it dosnt look like a typical biffa to ypu dosnt mean its not. Lyc if jeff posted them as what you said then they are 100 percent that.

it's a hybrid. It looks nice.

LOL, I can't really believe this comment. They clearly do not look anything like a typical bifas. Just because they came from Jeff does not mean they are bifas. Either they are something new as far as collection goes which I'm sure Jeff could shed some light on (that is why I recommended the poster contact Jeff rather then seeking answers from us) or they are a mix up. Which can happen with any vendor.

Hi. I think it is a pure bifa. I wonder is it the water chemistry that cause the color change. But I had another bifa from another seller that is red head and yellow body just like others normal bifa.

I don't think it is Bifa. It looks more like Guttulatum.
Maybe it's Hybrid vieja, but who cares? The fish looks amazing.

The more I look at it the more I'm leaning towards Paratheraps zonatus. I seriously doubt it's a hybred. OP have you asked Jeff as was suggested? It looks like no Bifa I've ever seen but it does look like a young zonatus the more I look at it. Like I said I'm not and expert on these guys and I'd be very interested in a positive ID.
