Is the anal fin straight or rounded on your cat? It looks straight in the picture, which means you might actually have a true blue catfish (Ictalurus furcatus) on your hands rather than a channel cat (Ictalurus punctatus).

it's mostly doesn't mean anything! the fish have spots so it's most likely a normal channel, a channel cat have 24-29 rays on anal so if it has 29 rays the fin can look straight like blue, count the number of ray will sure it is a blue or channel!
