Seriously?
Squiggle didn't have back problems did he? I wouldn't be too surprised if the lump that apparently killed him was due to stress. Were you unable to obtain a larger tank, unwilling to do so, or did it just not occur to you that being forced to live in an environment which was probably a foot wide might not be healthy for an 18 inch long fish, however manueverable? I'm not trying to be mean. I just want to understand the thought process (or lack thereof) involved in keeping such a large fish in such a small tank.

You might want to read this article: DRAGON GOBIES In there, it explains about lumps being caused by keeping them in FW for long periods of tme.

I don't have to ask anyone about tank size, Squiggle thrived in the tank till he eat rocks he couldn't pass. All tanks in my house are brackish, most of the fish around here are, I have I guess made the fish get use to the conditions. If you want to be an ass about it. All of the tetra and gourami have been doing much better since coming to my home to a brackish tank.

Violence, when I got her had been told she was saltwater only, I quickly learned she couldn't be in that kind of water, I would have lost her then if I hadn't changed it. I had argued with the guy about them being brackish but tried it anyway.

The tank was wider then him, he had plenty of room, he didnt even use the whole tank, and ya I would know since during off hours I would record my tank to see how the fish behave.

If you want to be an ass about it.
Folks here are just trying to help. I do believe it is poor fishkeeping to force FW fish into BW conditions (depending on how much salt you are actually using & what kind of salt). They cannot regulate the osmotic pressure & it will shorten their lifespan.

I use aquarium salt, when I researched the other fish, I had many emails telling me what my salinity should be at, It is the same for the goby, those people have had there fish for years, the ones in the tanks most of them have exceded the expected life span already by a few years.

Aquarium salt does not make water brackish--just salty water. What SG are you keeping your BW fish at? Most BW fish's life expectency is into their teens.

Your tanks are not brackish. If they were, your other fish would probably be experiencing health problems. Don't be fooled by the fact that a violet goby can live in freshwater for years. Maintaining osmoregularity in a freshwater environment wastes energy that the goby should be using to fight off disease.
If it was a rock that Squiggle swallowed that killed him, why on Earth would you make the mistake of putting your next goby in a tank with rocks as substrate, instead of sand?

I'm trying to help you and your goby. If you're going to call me an ass then maybe I should just leave you alone to kill your fish in peace.
