Blue dragon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Don't forget we now how big suppliers calling random crossess stuff like "warrior" flowerhorn haha. Seagrest farms calling silks titanium flowerhorn. And they are 80% garbage.

hey Noob.

original Blue dragon is a FH that is mostly Trimac based. They are green with blue gloss. I got into FH because of the BD. My firt real FH was a BD. He looked like a Jade with blue gloss
Your talking about a thai silk.
A BD is a kamfa silk.

that's why U are a noob.

When the name "Blue Dragon" was around, there were no Silks existing.

Put that into logic.

Wen u breed ur "Trimac " zz to a "vieja" vieja you get ur silky fh.
Not all will be silky but thats how it started.

The silky ones that had zz traits became the thai silks.

The silky kamfa that are pretty rare but easy to breed where used to make different fh..

I dont consider my self a master but im not a noob either. C'mon man

So who cares? Obviously the OP, or he wouldn't have asked.

There's nothing wrong with people asking, or with using older traditional names when the fish fits the name. And Izzy, when you have a strain of fish that breeds true & looks like the OP's fish make sure to post pics. :)
I doubt I'll produce anything like the op's fish, it shows a level of line breeding that I am directly opposed to. It in fact carries many traits I don't personally like, but then again most fh do.
I'm sort of unclear as to what made you think I said it wasn't ok for people to use (or apparently even ask about?) the traditional names? I thought I said I really didn't care what others called any given strain, unless it was MY strain... Sorry/not sorry, but I can't think it's a bad thing for other hobbyists to see some one NOT worrying one whit about 20 year old names that have needed MASSIVE revision almost since they were created. And even with revision they will never be very accurate, because as I stated in my previous post..."Two different breeders, using slightly different combinations of fish, could produce virtually identical offspring. But that doesn't mean those offspring are the same strain.." In my opinion that automatically makes any attempt at naming/classification impossible...unless EVERY single hybrid breeder keeps 100% accurate studbooks on every single strain...then after about 30-50 years of that, we can begin to make proper names and classifications. Again, the old names still make a good reference point, but that's all. And again this is just all my personal opinion, I certainly don't expect everyone to feel the same way.

That's all very interesting Izzy, unfortunately none of that is overly helpful to the OP, who previously stated;
I just wanted to know what to call him because when people ask "what kind of flowerhorn do you have" I don't really know what "kind" of flowerhorn he is.

Personally I have never been big on marketing names, or trade names used to describe hybrid FH, cichlids, or any other type of fish, either, but the OP wasn't asking about personal opinions on how different hybrid strains should be described, nor was anyone asking about YOUR strain? lol You previously stated:
None of the breeders that created them will reveal how they did it, so who cares?
....... which is partially why my response was worded in the manner that it was.

Hopefully that clears that up.

I think you may have taken that comment slightly out of context, and admittedly my phrasing wasn't very accurate...it was more the reason why I don't care. And perhaps a slight dig at all the sniping/disagreeing/possible misinformation in this thread...those things may also have not been very helpful to the op. it's all good, everyone derails a thread over personal beliefs in their own way...it's nothing personal, lol!
