Damn he is stunning. Forget what he is worth hold onto to him or try and get a mating pair.
I have a female for him. I will post pictures of her for you. They mated once but the eggs didnt survive from a ammonia spike in the tank:(

If it has the longer snout or mouth(from eyes to mouth) its a bgjd if not its a normal. Im pretty sure yours is. If you don't understand what im saying look at an EBJD than an BGJD then a normal JD

I'm sorry but I cant tell a difference from snout to mouth.

Sorry there is no way to tell if it is a het blue jack dempsey. Since the offspring of an ebjd x jack dempsey express no ebjd traits there is no way to tell if its a standard jack or not. Only way to know for sure is to breed one yourself from an ebjd x regular or breed it to an ebjd or known blue gene. It's an awesome looking fish either way.

Okay thanks. What is he percentage of breeding a JD x BGJD and getting EBJD fry?

You won't get any blues from breeding a standard with a blue gene. If that jack is het for blue and you bred it with a ebjd about 50% of the spawn will be ebjd, if bred with another blue gene it will be about 25% ebjd. A blue gene x regular spawn is pretty much a waste of time as the fry will be a mix of mainly regular with a few that carry the blue gene recessively and there is no way to tell what is what.

How big would a female have to be for the 9 inch male I have? A EBJD.
