my soon to be roomate wants to put a blue gill hes had in his 20g in an empty 29g i have in storage.... i need to know more info about them as in is it a general name for multiple types of fish, how big can they get, is a 29g big enough, what kind of food can we feed them, etc. i dont want to keep it if we cant keep it in a healthy and comfertable environment. any info will be appreciated thanks

At full size, I would say a minum of 55 gal for one bluegill. They are a specific type of Sunfish, and can reach 3 lbs in optimum conditions.

55 but 29 will be fine for atleast a year.

I had one for about 6 months and i kept him in an 80gal and WOW can that fish eat. Really koo fish to have. 29g would be ok but only for him and no other fish.

a spotted sunfish will probably do good in there. i've heard they only grow to 6".

You're thinking of a Calico Bass, it looks similar to a blue gill but it is not even related.
