id get a 75 gal. they have more depth to them (wider) and are much more easier to fill with decor' without over decorating. (larger rocks and plants take up less room)
you can pick up one at petco usually for under $130.then get a filter(s) that will cycle the tank several times an hour (600gph+) and you'll be set.
giving a fish more room and more filtrration than required is ideal because if you skip a cleaning or decide to add another fish, it really doesnt effect the tank that much.
do weekly 30% water changes and vacuum the gravel twice a month.
i personally like green sunfish and warmouths. but bluegills and red ears are right behind.
