blue gills???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There are a ton of types of sunfish that will fit in a 29 gallon and even a 20 gallon but bluegill are one of the larger types of sunfish. I still say 29 bare minimum!

heres a picture of the blue gill... any ideas what kind it is and how big it will actually get?......i got him to move it into a 65g that we got for real cheap (i love craigslist lol) he wants to add 1-2 more blue gills but i want to add a bottom feeder to clean up the food this messy eater drops or misses... will that be possible to do in the 65g?

Regular gill probably 10" max. I would think a nice bullhead would be great with him.

unless you have a bunch of cover for the crayfish it will get eaten when it molts. I would think about a tadpole madtom, or perhaps a speckled madtom, I have a speckled madtom that is about 2.5" - 3" long, it is very shy but does come out at night and at feeding times.

a large dinner plate with some tater wedges next to some iced tea will do fine.

large thick shelled snails might do alright if hes small

i personally like pumpkinseeds cause theyre being introduced everywhere by f&g around here to get kinds into fishing and wildlife conservation, so theyre easy to find at sizes around 2 inches or less

id suggest some kind of catfish theyre always the best cleaners

my new fave is the raphael cats
