yeah, i see them at the lfs. They don't even bother swimming around. They all just lie on top of each other on the bottom struggling to breath.

Its not the tattooing, its the dye where they dip them in acid and then soak them in dye. They are lucky if the survived the process.
There are a few different ways that they do it, Ive read about a few methods and i think they usually dip the ones that are fully changed in colors, and the injected ones usually have a line...i could be wrong but i think thats what i remember reading on this.evilxyardxgnome said:they are injected with the dye not diped.
A lot of people say "acid bath" without any concern to how their words are taken and then others repeat it without completely understanding what an acid bath is! When they dye fish this acid bath is actually acidic water and when I say acidic I am referring to the PH of the water. From what I understand it is usually a tank of water that has a PH of 3-4 and then put into a non-toxic dye lot it is not nearly as painful as one would think when you hear acid bath and then have visions of seeing fish fizzing away in Hydrochloric acid or something like that...nativelover said:there put in acid??? how painful is that!!!! i cant believe they let crap like that go on, although they let all kinds of bs go on with animals and fish alike.
i ave seen albino oscars turn blue naturally though. my freind has one where the orange pattern has a blue outline, yet it was almost pure white when he bought it.
