I have a gold nugget (L018), a blue phantom (L128) and a green phantom (L200). The gold and blue cost me 40$ each and the green 30$. The blue and green are less shy and easier to feed but the gold's behavior is way more interesting. The problem is that the gold really prefers hot water 28 to 32 (it makes him ten times more active) and the phantoms prefer colder water (22-25).

I notice that you are in Quebec, am curious...
Where are you getting those plecos at those prices?

I get them at a place called Aquarium du Nord on St-Hubert street in Montreal. It is a non fancy place where the guy in charge really likes plecos. They always have lots of rare fish too. I'm glad to live near this place !!!

I might have to check this store out when next time I am in MTL. Thanks for the tip.

Blue phantoms are nice plecos.. they do get big (I've seen a 10" before) and will be a great addition to a tank.. just make sure to feed it regularly with a diet of veggies.. they are great pets...

Gold nuggets are good too.. but they tend to grow very slowly..

if you search some of the vendor on MFK you will probably be able to find blue phantoms available at any time. you have to factor in the shipping costs but it will probably be just as cheap as from your LFS on sale.

try snookn21, and jeff rapps (tangled up in cichlids), i have purchased plecos from both of them and they were excellent quality.
