Looks good why not try the common and easy pothos and partially bury the water dish might be easier for the spotted to get to it

Pothos are everywhere! Main reason why I didnt go for them, we have them all over the house. I did have the water dish before like that, I just change things around to much. Who knows whats next. I know I want to get some baby tears and have it carpet the bottom but thats the final tank design, not this little 29gal.

I used to have 2 crickets now ones left and hes alone, I think his buddy got eaten haha.

Your tank looks great for a sally as they just mostly hide . My friend has 2 Fire sallys think those you see the most. They dont bury like the amby bunch but do need to hide
They actually do come out but mostly hide under corkbark . I think other than tiger sallys most if not all of the amby group just hide its like looking at an empty tank.

I keep small snakes like scarlet kings and they hide all the time also but we like what we like.

I took a graduate level course in herpetology at Indiana State with Dr. john Whitaker. We studied salamanders extensively, including a one week trip to NC to do food studies. The majority of slamanders food consists of very small insects such as ants and something else that I can't quite remember the name of I think it was springtails or some such.

Ah ants! I wonder if they can crawl on glass though, the crickets cant... hmm

yeah, once you had them colonized in a big tank like that, they won't take much cultivating.

Those sound scary. I did a quick research of it

Springtails are pests due to their large numbers. They do not bite nor transmit diseases. They can easily climb the sides of houses and are attracted to lights.

To me that seems they can crawl up the glass and stay by the lights, I dont need this things jumping out!
