Usually they are albino oscars before the "juicing" - last year I fell prey to this as well, an impilse buy hoping for a new strain, I was wrong. Within 2 weeks he was white as a ghost - gave him to a friend whose an Oscar exclusive keeper, he cared for the fish well however he died @ 5 inches and 9 mo. The last mont he refused to eat.

Yes, I agree, it's dyed. Ant type of blue is dyed.

As bad as this is for the animal...once it heals...shouldnt it be fine?

Why all the histrionics? The guy has bought it, he likes it, he wont support it in the future.

Give him a good life, I dont know the details, but it seems to me that if the fish is healthy now, and you give it good conditions it should probably live life like your other oscars. My life isnt going to be shortened by my tattoos...

The dye gets into their blood stream. They take the slime coat off and dip is it dye, that is why it is so bad. It also shortines their life span.

The lemon oscar may be a real lemon oscar that's natural but may also be a dyed lemon oscar. If the yellow is bright is probably dyed. The one photo is "jellybean" parrots, all of them are dyed. The other is a natural lemon oscar.

of course its dyed how could it not be a blue oscar ?
a red and a red tiger have been produced from selective breeding to get more and a greater colour from the original wild oscars they could not in any way make a blue yellow green or any other just stick with the reds tigers or albinos if you buy one of these dyed fish your just funding the muppets that are doing it in the first place STAY AWAY from them

Dyes are inject into the anus and mouth of the fish using a tube like enema. Ive seen this practice done with antibiotics and the fish hated every second of it and felt very violated im sure. These toxins in the dyes (petroleum based) do horrible damage to the kidneys and liver. Dying is usually done to the low-grade, should be culled fish, Its a terrible way for breeders to make money from unsuspecting buyers.

Im not here to tell you what to buy, Just thought I would clear this up.
