Just wanted to say my electric blue crayfish finally bred. The females has a couple hundred eggs under her tail.
I'll post pics and maybe some information tomorrow.
ph-7.0
nitrate-0
amonnia-0
temp- 70, then spike to 80
substrate- sand
decor- driftwood, plants
low lighting
weekly small water changes, then one big one
When I did all of this, my female cray was in berry after about 2 weeks. I hope this can help anyone trying to breed crayfish and if you questions about breeding crays or cichlids feel free to ask me.
If you flip them over, males will have 2 bone-like things near its abdomen, females will not. Females also have longer swimmerets to hold all of the eggs. Often, males will have long, thin claws; while the females will have short, thick claws.
CONGRATS! FISH GUY, I HAD LUCK CROSSING MY BLEW, WITH MY WHITE MALE, LAST YEAR AND ABOUT 99% OF THEM WERE BLUE, AND THOSE BABYS, I CROSSES BACK TO A DIFFERANT BLUE MALE AND WAS ABLE TO GET ABOUT 25% WHITE THIS GO AROUND. I KNOW IT IS A PROCESS IN IT'S SELF BUT IF YOU WANT, THE BEST WAY I'VE FOUND TO RAIS THE FRY, IS TO SEPERAT THEM TO ABOUT 5 BABY'S TO A 10 GALLON TANK FOR THE BEST SURVIVLE RATE.
