Grrrrr.... So, I was changing the substrate in my main tank tonight (thanks for the awesome black sand Jed!) so I took all the fish out off the tank and into an aerated cooler for safe keeping until I was done. Once I got the substrate finished, I put everyone back in the tank I noticed Rosco was swimming oddly...
Upon further inspection I noticed that one of his pectoral fins had punctured his side, and was stuck in his skin!
I captured him again (poor guy was already stressed) and when I couldn't get the skin off the fin, I gently (and carefully) snipped the skin away with scissors just enough so it would come off the fin.

He was so stressed! Poor thing, I feel so horrible! I added some salt and upped the temp... anything else I should do? I really don't want to lose him...

On the up side... him and Cooter look really good on the new substrate... heres some pics (and some of the channels as well)

Well things have settled down a bit, and Rosco seems to be doing ok, I just hope his side doesn't get infected.

But while I was switching everyone around I got actual measurements on Cooter and Rosco

Cooters sitting at exactly 7 inches
Rosco is at 6.5 inches

Also measured my oscars and Bo is 9" and Boss is 7.5"
Bo is a longfin though, so he has some added poof-length :grinno:

What do you guys think of the new substrate?

New Pics!

I'm very excited to see that Cooter's gill curl is completely reversed! No sign of it! :D AND his barbles that my Jag tried to rip off have grown back almost completely...
And sorry for phone pics... one day I will remember to take my 20D to the fish room :irked:

(well she already had her own thread when i first got her, so ya'll probably already saw, but I gotta keep the journal updated ya know ;))

Alright, I finally added a Daisy to my duke family. Had her for a little bit now and she's already growing like a week. I've wanted to grow out a big cat from the beginning, and finally found one.
So here she is. Meet Daisy, my baby TSN at 2" in these pics.

Nice cats, I'd like to grow out an RTC/TSN or hybrid someday, but I don't have room for an adult.
Baby RTC's are cute.

Just as long as you don't try to put a pair of Daisy dukes on her... we'll all be good!

She's a cute little lady :D

Haha, bass your so funny! I think she'd look good in some cute lil jean cut offs don't you? I'm sure you marbles like the idea ;)

If you ever need a place for some baby RTC's to live for a while.
Let me know!

Cant wait to see your 300 set-up.
