Wow!! Buddha1200 you Bocourti :) Are there different types of Bocourti? If so what would be the difference? Congradulations Hungryhomer, you should really enjoy watching them grow :) Bocourti is on my wish list... Hungryhomer, what size tank do you have them in, and what other cichlids do you have in the tank with them?

thanks,most of mine are still growing after giving away my jags,the bocourti is 2" and in a 55 with a gold sev the same size,the syn at about 6" is now in a tank with a 5" jd and a 5-6" con the tank is 112gal.by the end of the year will have upgraded at least one tank,the first will be the 55 to be replaced by 204 gal cube and then hopefully the 112.not decided on its replacement yet the only thing ido know is it will be BIGGER ;).
 
gutted,got home today and one of the bocourti was belly up,wife said they were all fine at 12 and by 3 it was dead.puzzling thing is there is not a mark on it ,all feeding fine water spot on,it was the weaker of the two (its the one in the bottom two pics on page 1) when they arrived.maybe just one of those things still gutted though.

i got 6 bocourti from Don few weeks ago.
they was the most small fish in the tank, so they was kinda shy about come to eat.
2 weeks pass and they start to be very corious and really good eaters.
they grow almost to the double, like 2 or 3 inch at the moment.
keep us updated:)
 
mine are the most aggressive eaters in my fish room,equal only maybe to my argentea.
As far as growth,their growth rate never ceases to amaze me,my male is 14+ and still growing.
good food and large water changes seems to grow them over night.by far the only pair of fish in my fish room that has far surpassed my expectations in looks,appetite,size,growth snd behavior(wouldnt sell them for no amount of money)
 
everytime Buddha posts his pair, I get that much closer to placing another order from Rapps so I can get some bocourti :D lol
 
i would recommend them to anyone with a large tank,by far my favorite ca cichlid(out of the many that i own)
i have never seen any cichlid go through the awesome changes of color right before my eyes orange ,green,blue,yellow all with in a matter of minutes,(never know what color u will get from one minute to the next)
unbeatable in that department
 
Im not a water change addict, but seem to do it 2 times per week 25% changes. I usually do it when I see crap in the water which is all the time.
