Well this year it took a lot longer than normal. Usually I have the backyard bonsai garden all cleaned up and in shape by late April, but with my Sister spending two months in ICU and then passing 3 weeks ago, things this spring were just so out of sorts I had not had a chance to get to doing the work. Then with what seemed like rain every day for the past 3 weeks that didn't help either. Finally got some nice weather now and got out and started working on the garden Friday. Took about 3 days worth of work, pulling tons of weeds and getting everything back i shape, but it's finally back to how I like it and can enjoy it again for the summer.

K krichardson How are your trees doing this spring? Got them all set up on your platforms soaking up sun now?

Yeah Steve it looks great!!! I soo missed the boat this year with my yard. We had record rain over the winter and everyone who has any kind of flowers planted has such an amazing bloom going on now.

I'm not so much of a nature-boy Steve, but it looks lovely indeed. My wife does all the outdoor flowers etc, and I hire guys to prune and mow.
I have some allergies that aren't irritated by fish and fishing, if you get my drift. I actually like gardening but it doesn't like me.

We are enormously relieved by our local mosquito abatement plan. Where I live I might see one a day, and it's probably sterile. The danger here is typically Black Widows and Black Mold. Both deadly, but I have survived both the bite and the Valley fever. So far . . .
(BTW I lived in NE Minnesota in the 70s. The bugs are legendary . . . Paul Bunyon type . . .)

K krichardson Check this one out. I dug up this little maple from my cabin last summer and planted it in my pre-bonsai ground growing area. I didn't think it would make the move. Forgot all about it till today. Not only did it survive, but check out the new growth down nice and low on it :)

Nice.I have a few little ones in my growing area in my yard too.I also have a few red maple seedlings that I am itching to dig up and place in pots.
