I can never get bored of my fish or fish keeping It seems like I'm always researching all kinds of fish, talking about them and or just watching vids of everyone's tanks, just me though I guess you won't be happy or feel satisfied till you get that one fish you regret or lost that's way keeps me going lol

Tis the season.. i know ive been in a similar mind lately as well.. nothing really gets me excited.. but in my absence (just sneaking down to feed them) the bloody things decided to make more.. and grow on me. about ready to empty the tanks and put them in storage ( you never get out of the hobby just take breaks... learned that lesson before!)

I think the fish are better when we just leave them alone and by that I don't mean neglect. I've been breeding and showing Siberian huskies for many years. I had dog fur in my blood. My dogs lived and live like kings and queens. I still have 7! The whole dog thing was more about me than it was about them. I had/have champions top 20 dogs and pups. I tired to rationalize it, but in the end it was about me. I can still love and care for my pets without turning it into a competition. That's what I like about fish keeping. They are just there and every day in the tank is a new adventure. I find the hobby stimulating and it cost a lot less than dog showing. There are no fish shows are there?

I'm on a break now... turned my 150g into a community tank with small fish and shut my 500g down for a while. Mostly funds and stuff got me down, then a little boredom crept in.

But I know I'll be back to the monster's someday.

If there is one thing I have been battling with for a while is a 50/50 reptile/aquarium tank... just don't know how bad I want to do it haha. My biggest set back is having to drill in my overflow to lower the height (and time Lol).

I have thought of a big community set up and I am looking around the web to see if I like anything... dunno, i'm at the stage of "find something quick or pull the plug".

In my experience, during our ' bored ' periods is when our fish fare best! The least we are fretting and watching and oing this and that, the better they are...

I totally agree. If you just do the bare minimum for a while, let the sides of the glass get a little hazy, all of a sudden, you walk by the tank one day and all your fish are super bright and active. Maybe even some new additions could be swimming around...

If you are talking about posting on here less, I go through periods of posting lots and then not posting at all.

Problem is I get tired of seeing the exact same threads on all the time, I get tired of everyone going with the fads to the next popular fish, and cause I don't follow the fads nobody will comment on my threads or whatever. Sometimes it just feels like the point of the forum is being missed by a lot of people.

Someone asking a genuine question about whether their fish is dying or not, will get 50 views and 1 reply, but some guy showing pictures of his festae/insert generic popular fish here will get 8 pages.

I'm not really bored with my tank cause I chose fish that were small to grow into monsters, so its interesting to watch them grow and interact with eachother. that and I have a job, play a lot of video games, do social things and also keep reptiles. so its not like my life revolves around fish. cutting back can be a good thing, I have one tank and I really don't need any more.
