Bought a Vieja Argentea:)

So I ordered a Vieja Argentea,3 inches from CichlidStation,Rob is a nice guy who helped me out with my situation of me not being home and to have the package delivered to the nearest Fedex by me.Here are some pictures of the 3 inch Vieja Argentea.

nice pick up!! my arg is def my favorite fish right now unfortunately they are quite the slow growers but will be cool to see what kind of growth you get on him mine LOVES algae wafers so i usually break up a few for him to eat so he leaves the whole ones for the pleco alone haha

Thanks guys,I didn't know they are slow growers,but the way I feed my cichlids,I can probable get the argentea up to 5 inches in no time lol.

It appears to me that he has red trim on his dorsal. I do not remember ever seeing red on the dorsal of an Argentea. Maybe I am color blind.

I have to look closer for red on the dorsal then.

The only cichlid that gives the Argentea a slight problem is my salvini,then again what salvini isn't protective of their hideouts lol? I think he was worth the purchase at 3 inches from cichlid station.Most say get more than one fish to introduce into the tank,but my fishes didn't seem to care too much,only had a couple who were curious that was it.

I think that is a zonatus. I could be wrong on that identification but it is def not an Argentea. Argentea is in Richone's avatar. It is still a good looking fish.

It was listed as a Argentea,oh well though,it looks very similiar to a argentea to be honest.

google both of them and you'll see the difference. You should be happy though. It is a great looking fish. I would still be upset with cichlidstation though. They should know what they are selling.
