Bought a Vieja Argentea:)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I may have to pass on that then, that is just too high in my view for that price for shipping.I can understand 50 dollars or if someone is located overseas.USPS is a terrible way for having live animals shipped, also expensive too.my shipping charge through cichlid station was 20 dollars through Fedex.

Here's an argentea, but even though yours isn't, I bet it will grow into a great fish.

definitely not Argentea. Argentea is White Cichild and its body shouild be white with black dots all over. Look like a fene

I don't notice any red by the face honestly. So I guess its a zonatus.

Haven't read the last couple pages, but that fish right there is not an Argentea, i guarantee you that.

Yes,I already know this. This was my first time ordering live fish,it would of been better,if there were more lfs by me,to make it easier for me to point these things out. That is why I was skeptical at first, but figured it was just a different patterns of a argentea. Not sure if I can really trust buying live fish online now.

you can trust buying fish from an online source it just has to be a reputable source. Not just someone with a webpage who says they know everything. Rapps, cichlids of the americas and bluegrass cichlids are three reputable sources. Do some research about the company before placing an order. People want your money and unfortunately there are sketchy people who will lie to get it.

I have done the research on cichlid station, they have positive reviews honestly,so that is why I went with them.Rapps seems just too high for shipping cost honestly, unless he goes by zipcode, then fine I will give rapps a shot. Cichlid of America didn't have what I wanted, but good prices though.Bluegrass has a black belt I would like to get, just no argentea.

It appears to me that he has red trim on his dorsal. I do not remember ever seeing red on the dorsal of an Argentea. Maybe I am color blind.

I agree the fish originally pictured is not an argentea, but argentea can definitely have some red on their dorsal. Here is mine:

I can see some of the red on your argentea,I had my goals set on getting one,but landed with another vieja that seems to be a zonatus, which is fine.I will just have to keep searching or calling.
