i really think catch and release is much more humane hunting for the thrill of the kill doesnt make it a macho sport go cliff diving if you need a rush leave the fish alone..
Umm, just like people hunt to eat, people fish to eat, not for the "thrill of the kill" or any "macho rush."
WTH is that anyway? Most hunters I know don't exactly like killing an animal. That's why its important to kill with one shot, so there is little to no suffering. I've seen grown men cry after having to track and kill an animal that was wounded but didn't die.
Just about everyone in my family hunts, traps or fishes and you know what, I haven't had to buy meat since July! Rabbit, bear, deer, turkey, goose, trout, whitefish, smelt, and perch; we have it and we USE it!
People that are against hunting or fishing have never done it or have only seen those stupid Ted Nuggent type sportsman. And let me tell you, hunting on a FARM, PAYING for a GAURENTEED kill of a TAME animal IS NOT HUNTING!
Also, catch and release doesn't always mean the fish will stay alive after it's hooked. Fish can get infections and sometimes there is no way to get a fish off the hook without killing it. I do think that bowfishing or spearing is a better way to fish, less suffering for the fish all in all. And spearing takes a lot more skill than baiting a hook and droping it in the lake.
