i am an avid bowfisherman...it is the best...the fish must be within 10' of you to stand a good chance...they should be within 2' of the surface...i go with 200lb test line as all the other stuff just snaps and i loss aros...depending on the draw weight of your bow you can shoot farther and deeper...the distances i told you were with 50#...i use 80-85# draw...move slow and aim low...if you think you are low enough go 6" lower...the defraction of the water is very deciving, but you will get the feel of it...also you will miss ALOT...my first few times it was like 100 missed shots to 1 hit...with a tubular fish like bass that will be doubbled on the miss to hit ratio...go for body shots to improve your hit %...any other q's i'll answer for you, if you want you can pm me as i am not always looking in this section much...

Yeah i have a question about the reels. What would you recommend?

if you go the money go with the ones with the white line keeper built in...i forget their name...they come in a kit for like $150 or reels only for $75...they have them at cabelas and gander mtn...i will try to look up a pick...i use those and the gray spool that you hand reel in...i always get the 200lb test line as it never breaks...go with muzzy tips as the barbs are strong...i am tring out a new tip that deploys after penitration through the fish...i will try to get a pic of both reels the spool is $20 and the line is $10-15...the spool has 85lb test, but it is garbage, to thin and if it gets hooked on something it snaps...i'd rather dodge and arrow comming back at me from the line hooking then lose a $20 arrow...i think the reels have the 200# line allready in them...

here is the more expensive one that i use...it is an AMS reel

here is the cheaper one i use...the white line is junk, by the other line...the good line will be pink or green...

use this kinda arrow

here are the tips...i have found that the gar tips hold their point longer then the carp tips, though the carp tips penitrate alittle smoother

i cant find the new tips i am tring out...next trip i will try to gat a pic of the tips...they seem to be working pretty good...only lost one after it was shot...these you will lose a few, but the cheap thin wire barbs you will lose most of the fish...

Ok thanks so how would you rate the cheap one?

the spool is great, just don't skimp on the arrows or tips...use the ones i have posted they are both by MUZZY...with the spool get the 200lb test line for it...also don't use the line notch as it will no always relase the line and the arrow will come back at your face...just use a small loop in the line to hold it, and still alow it to pull free...we call it the james bond knots...idk how to discribe it more to you...

if you are useing a compond bow the cheap one just threads into the stablizor hole...were as the expensive one replaces you sight system, as you don't need it for bowfishing, it is nice to have for deer...i just have different bows for said functions...

Yeah im buying a pse fire flite compound bow with sights, rest, a dozen arrows, with case for 75 tomorrow. Meeting the guy at the BassPro so i want to know what i should buy to get it all at once.
