in the US the child's parents would be held responsible for the child's actions. and they would also be brought up on child endangerment charges for letting him run loose near dangerous reptiles.

the parents would go to jail, the kid would go into foster care and end up in prison as soon as he's old enough to go.

I agree that the farm or zoo is partly responsible, but how is a 7 year old able to be away from his parents for long enough to do so much damage. I guess I'm saying that the zoo and parents should be mostly responsible but in the end the child made a very clear decision to make an effort to harm these animals and that just really really bothers me. The odd part is that it wouldn't have bothered me too much if the kid was injured in the process. I still would have been more bothered by the things that i previously stated. Say what you will but that's just the way i feel about things like this.

Therefore they should have public proofed their enclosures and maintained a safety level to suit knowing this.

I agree now that I`ve cooled down that feeding the kid to a croc is WAAAY harsh.
But the zoo should take some responsibility, they`re half at fault here.

The kid on the other hand, obviously needs help, and I wouldn`t doubt that he needs a new set of parents either.

Completely agree. I work in the restaurant/bar industry and the holy terror's these parents bring in has just ruined me i guess

What the child did was wrong but tell me how a 7 yr old could have such easy access to the exhibit.We have to have child proof fencing around our swimming pools here so why has the security or prevention of unwanted public to a potentially dangerous enclosure gone unnoticed?
As I said the childs actions were wrong but no worse than the lack of actions the reptile farm took to ensure the public could not gain access let a lone a 7 yr old child.It could have been much worse.It could have ended with a dead child. mmmm.... for all who think the child should have died or been eaten, I can only hope you never have children of your own

I was also baffled why the reptiles are easily accessible to being handled by visitors. I could have sworn exhibits are not supposed to be left unattended by the employees. Gross neglect should be filed against the employees and the boy's parents. The latter is involved because the safety of the child was at risk from being attacked by a crocodile.
