Hello everyone,
I am super excited to have found a juruense at my LFS,
Ive checked planet catfish today but I really am looking
for personal experiences on this one,
Currently its just a little one i'm very interested in,
it is a little beat up but they are selling for a very good
price because of this it cant be any larger then 3''
And they are only asking 24.99.
Over all im super considering this little guy, but I want
to ask the pros,
I would love all insight you guys can offer,
Size,Diet,personality,compatibility,
Im looking to grow this guy out and eventually
put him with my Pbass and RTCxTSN,
Thank You

Well I had mine that grew from 6" to 9" perfectly nice fish with no problems of banging itself into the tank ;) no skittishness on my account and its a perfectly nice fish to keep with PBs but do note that Jurus have their own temper also ;)

You will not be able to put this fish in with a RTCXTSN ... it will get eaten. The fish require a lot of current and very clean water.

Thats fine I honestly dont have to keep them together at all,
I usually ask the question: Should I worry about the new guy
being eaten or should I worry about him eating everyone else.
Generally speaking how are they guys with temperment and
appetite? Catfish can very so much,

They do a weird sitting on their fins wriggling ...like they are almost begging for food when they are hungry.
Biggest cause of death ....OVERFEEDING. They do not grow fast like a TSN, they do not require food every day.

I am looking at ordering a tig at my lfs. How can I tell the difference from this fish ( fake tig) and a real tig. When they are small?

I just got my baby Juruense last week and he is an awesome cat! Even though my cichlid tore him up pretty bad he is still acting completely normal. They are not skittish and grow very slow, max size is around 12-14". They love Massivore pellets and meaty foods. Don't keep them with RTCxTSN because the Juru will be outgrown in a matter of 2-3 months and eaten. Mine is very peaceful and never tries to attack anyone. Hope this helped.
