Branching out challenge

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I decided to branch out of my norm and got my crawfish XD

On a more serious note, a couple of those fish on the list I’d love to keep. I’ve been looking into sturgeon lately. I think it would be awesome to see in the pond in the summer. But my temps would be off and I read they shouldn’t eat koi food either.

I'm betting that nearly all of us always have our eye on other fish, bigger tanks, other more challenging projects within the hobby, I know I do. Hell, i'd love to have half a dozen 300-500 gallon indoor tanks housing all sorts of stuff. And then a huge cold water outside pond to boot. But space is the biggest factor meaning i'll never get to that level and of course there'll be financial restraints too.

That said, i'm sort of branching out next year. I'm building a 300g or so plywood tank for my current stock and adding some frontosa gibberosa. That's the extent of my branching out for now.

Winning the lottery would be the next step in my branching out, hell, what a branch out that would be.

We need to challenge ourselves to branch out in the fish we keep, try new species and new things, there's more to fish than cichlids, and more to Community tanks than central/South American fish, more to African fish than bichirs and syno cats, try new fish, new setups and go beyond what everyone else is doing.

Do you accept the challenge?

Nope.

I don't expect to have room for additional tanks or room in my tank for significant changes for many years.

And because half of those fish you mentioned are game fish and illegal to keep in most states.
