So, to start, I'm already having a really bad day with this filter. I picked it up at Petco yesterday in anticipation of an adult red devil.
I opened up the box today, and started getting everything put together. Issue #1, it doesn't fit through the doors of my stand, but I can live with this. Issue #2, both of the plastic brackets that hold the hose to the side of the tank broke when I was putting them on the tank. At this point, I stopped, pulled out the users manual, and tried contacting customer service through the website listed. This sent me to a "this page could not be found" thing. Frustrating, but hey, I can always order new parts, no big deal.
So I get back to hooking up the filter. Everything is done, I followed the instructions, the tank is filled up, I plug the filter in, and it starts pumping water out of BOTH valves on the top. Not a little water either, this was a steady stream of water. I immediately unplugged it, close both valves, detach both hoses and check to make sure the rings are in place, they are and they look fine. So now I decide to call the number in the users manual. Nobody answers and I get a recording. It lists a different website to go to to contact customer service, so I go to this new website and finally find a way to email someone only to get a "we will respond to your email in 3 business days" I don't have the time or patience to wait for 3 business days to get help for a $300 filter that should NOT be having these problems. To add to all of the issues I've had so far because of this filter, my power strip fell off the wall into the water and my genius butt had the bright idea of grabbing it, which ultimately led to a pretty good shock.
So now I'm sitting on my couch frustrated and in tears over a filter that won't cooperate, and an arm that really hurts, coming to you guys for any assistance I can get before I give up and return this thing and settle for something else.
