Brand New Piranha

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It very well could be.. It has the very high back and the up turned mouth.. looks kinda like a small rhomb too.. where did you say it was collected from.. i was searching some sites and it says S. compressus is maybe restricted to the Rio Madiera and its tributaries.. so that may be a give away..

as you can see the similarities amongst your own specimens.. the up turned mouth and the slight hyaline edge to the tail.. only time will tell..

yeah, the only difference on the new one is the barring, so far nobody has been able to say what it is with any certainty.

Cool Joe! Where did you get it?

ak, i posted that new pic in my thread over in the id forum at p-fury, it's a much better pic than what frank saw earlier, so maybe it'll help to sway his opinion one way or the other

... His compressus looks a little like my irritans.. i have noticed the the compressus look like fat irritans and they look a little like younger altuvie minus the red.. this is all from pictures though.. i havent seen any of the rarer species in person.. but hey man you have a beautiful fish there no matter what it turns out to be.. it would be nice to add another species to the list tho huh?

i get them through sea level in hopkins, i know the owner and the guy that works with the importer and all of us were stumped as to what it could be as well... we all have our ideas, but it's just hard to say at this point.
