Brazil ray BAN news

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
At moment no fish can leave brazil not even pleco or tetra, Ibama workers are on strike for last three weeks and are demanding more pay in mean time all is closed. As for rays quota was released for this year but not signed by Ibama since January so no rays allowed out yet, News is maybe in next month or two but cant even tell you how many times I have already heard this. In meantime nothing is happening soon that I know.

Waiting for your good news then Mike :)

I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you guys. It is VERY hard to get much of anything out of Brazil these days. The only country I can think of off the top of my head with tighter export restrictions is Australia.

A few tegu enthusiasts have been trying to get the Yellow Tegu out of Brazil for some time now. The response from Brazil is always a firm, concrete "NO! NO! NO!"

any updates?

im hearing rumors in every direction right now.

Hi,

at the moment, the quote released for a while since june, then was stop export by IBAMA due to some issue with certificate from SEMMA (is a body who issue certificate for export). also heard some export company's export permit was cancel. Ray caught with document before 21st July can ship. from 21st July onward, not allow to catch and move ray, until issue of certification from SEMMA is solved.

thanks for the info. i guess this explains why some guys can still bring rays in but others cannot...
