Breeder Feeder Idea

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah, right now I'm just feeding him boodworms, brine shrimp, plankton, and occasional earthworms. I just want to add feeders to the mix for him :)

i would stay clear of convicts. after about 3-4 spawns the male will kill the female. they are really a pain... just get plants and about 3male 6female endlers and you will be set... they drop fry every couple weeks or so and are constantly breeding. you can also put cherry shrimp in with the endlers with lots of cover and still get some shrimp babies out of it. that way you can mix it up too. also if your feeding convicts be prepared to find 2-3inch survivors in there which cant be put into the breeding tank or death will occur. convicts are so common that no lfs will take them either if you decide to get rid of them.

? Ive had the same pair spawning with each other for almost 3 years with no problems. Ive had males kill females but that was always a forced pairing (part of selective breeding for a color project).
Endlers are cool but you would need lots and you still wont touch the amount of offspring a pair of cons can produce plus the slower growth rate. You must remember that even small cons can have hundreds of fry at a time.

and cons will have up to hundreds of offspring at a time? how often do they have offspring?

what size tank? cuz you can start with 20-40 shrimp and in 2 months have tons of kids. cherrys breed faster than ghosts and are easier to keep track of. they have 20-30 babies at a time and cnah have half of them with eggs at a time.. lots of babies.

Cons can lay up to twice a month but leaving the fry with them will slow it down quite a bit.

Aquatic Aggression: I'm looking for something lower management so I would probably leave the fry with the parents for a while, and I don't really have any other good places to put fry at the moment.
Jshill103: If I were to keep just shrimp in my tank(30 gallon) would I be able to keep multiple generations and keep the fry in with the adults if I kept enough hiding places? If I could I would just take out adults ever other day and feed them to my eel

Why feed the adults when you can feed the babies. you can have up to 400 shrimp in your 30gal tank. shrimp dont have fry stages and they dont eat their own the adults will just keep pumping out babies constantly. i would feed baby shrimp and you would have many many generations of shrimp in there over time.
