Whats the latest news on the meal worms? Have they started laying eggs yet? :)
Well I revamped the whole layout of their setup. Forget the drawer system they suck, lol. I kept worrying that they would get out because the oats was close to the sides. I went back to the original idea of just putting them in the bins(look on page 1). I have been busy with work and college so some beetles are with the pupa's and mealworms with beetles, lol.

I'm going to try and sort them again by this week we will see. I have a ton of beetles though, probaly a good hundred if not 150. I have also little mealies!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would take pics but their about the size of a dot and I can barely even see them. Will get pics later some time of this mess since their not separated. :) :) :) Thanks for showing interest.:D

Yeah, their really cheap. Even if you don't breed them, their still cheap for a good food source.

I just read this WHOLE thread, and I was bloody wondering how you got mealworms back out of all this.

All you've posted about was from when you got the mealies and on!Not how the hell you got mealies back!

So, the beetles lay eggs? Can they mate on their own?
How many mealworms can one beetle make?

I was like, how the heck is he gonna make money, he's just growing mealworms into beetles![/quotw]

LOL Yeah I just now got some little mealies extremely tiny.

Yep the beetles lay eggs. They will climb on each other and the male I would assume which is on top will stick something out of it's rear end and the female also and they fertilize them and lay them. I'll take a pic of them on top of each other and all, lol. It sounds weird but that's how they fulfill the deed.:D:D:D

I have heard anywhere from 30 eggs per female and I also heard 500. So I really don't know, hoping for the 500 per female though. That would be alot of mealies though. Which is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well got some pics of the mess.

Very cool.
We need to see pics of the baby mealies asap once they get to a size where you can see them ;)

Do you need to seperate the beatles from the worms? Or do you do this for efficiency's sake?

i bought 100 a few weeks ago, fed all the pupa since I have no room for beetles :(
im surprised i still have worms left :D

any baby meelie pics yet?

Comon man don't play us like this! :bling:

Well I gues I oughtta update. I threw them out, lol. No lie, I saw three beetles walking around upstairs(the beetles are downstairs) every few minutes. I saw one, killed it and then 5 minutes later saw another then again,so I threw them out. I was like WTF is going on, IDK they got out somehow and I wasn't in the mood to deal with it. So ya this whole thread is a big FAIL. :) I did have lil mealies but I'm sure the birds got to them outside by now, lol.

I had way too many, I just should have started with like 100, I just had a million other things to do, so no biggie. Maybe later I shall come back to this thread and relive my mealworm breeding experience again, thanks for everyone who have kept reading it. :)

How comes you dint use a mesh over the container with the beetles i tink that was an easy solution ,nice tread by the way, in new york thay sell 1000 for 18.99 with delevery included
