What would happen if you succeded? Would you have to get cites to tag them? Would it matter what country you're in? I would imagine you would have to prove they are captive bred. Interesting thread.....

IT HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED. Now if only we could get them legally captive raised. I'd be rich. One million dollars, mini me. Muuhhaaaahaaaaah. (pinkie raised)

Sorry I wasn't clear, I meant outside of Asia, say in Canada. I have heard and read several case studies of aquarium breeding of the Asian aro....but what happens afterward? Are the young legal....do they have to be tagged?

probably possible if you're really lucky and somehow your 2 arowanas end up pairing up OR you get a tank big enough for 30 full grown arowanas to live in.

when they are bred on a farm the farm needs regular inspections and the fish have to be tagged and get certification from CITIES. dont see why it would matter that these were bred in asia and not canada they bred in a freaking tank. Unbelievable. I mean maybe they took um out of a pond or something but it doesn't really matter they did it.
