I just picked up a large super red Oscar the other day. He/she has paired up with my female albino red and they are currently showing signs of breeding (rock cleaning, lip locking, and the biggest indicator, my confirmed female has her ovipositor out). I have no idea if my newbie is male or not, but I want to be prepared just in case. Any tips or advice?
Should I remove the eggs to prevent possible fighting?

Easiest way to check sex of fish, especially if food motivated, is tease them with food to get them to swin near vertical. Then grab a picture of the area in question.

Then in your editing software you can zoom in on the specified area.

Here we can see that one hole is bigger than the other. Than means it's female. In males these holes are very simular in size.

I officially have spicy caviar!!!
I don't think they're fertile, they're an off white, almost pinkish, but definitely not brown or tan like I read.
Didn't get to see any of it, so didn't get to confirm the gender of the newbie.
As much as I would like to get a photo of (or even see) the underside of this big guy, he (I'm assuming) absolutely will not show me his belly. He's not super thrilled with food, and at the moment generally stays near the bottom. I'm guessing a small case of new home pout.
I'm definitely not going to try wrestling with him to flip him upside down to check. I don't want to clean up that flood. 😅
So, unless these eggs magically become fertilized or he lets me see his belly, official gender is still a mystery.

Yup those don't look fertilized. Still glowing white. It takes most pairs a try or three before they get it right. Unless they are convicts, they seem to always get it right the first try.

No kidding. Worked in a fish store. They started with four. Before I left they were having "buy one get two free" and "free with any purchase" sales on convicts. 🤣
