Breeding Feeder fish

If you want 100+ 1-2" feeders a week, you're going to need a fair-sized pond. Otherwise, just keep buying 'em.

Like this idea the best so far.

I am in the process of getting a new house so I will have room for a pond in the back.
I have looked at some of the ponds on this site and some of them are what I am looking for.... Helll could be a weekend project for me and some of the guys...

I will also be in the market for a new tank the 150 will be getting to small soon.

I suggest Pimephales promelas (fathead minnows/tuffies/rosy reds) or mosquitofish (Gambusia species) to stock your pond with. They will breed faster and more consistently than goldfish, especially in your warm climate. Golden shiners (Notemigonus crysoleucas) are another good option if you want larger (goldfish-sized), flashier adults.

There's a ton of great pond construction info here: http://www.khoiphen.com/forums

Or even some of the mouthbrooding tilapia. Used to have a 1m/3f group of red mossambiques that produced TONS of feeders for me. I kept them in a 55g with a divider for whatever female(s) were holding at a given time. I stripped the females into a separate 20L for growout of the fry.

There are some Tilapia hybrids developed to be cold hardy that could work for your pond.

A better solution would be to switch away from live food (esp. goldfish) as much as possible. I feed primarily pellets and superworms for live.
