breeding feeder roaches

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I breed Blaptica dubia Roaches for feeders. They are live breeders, they don't stink like crickets, can't fly or climb glass either. For now I keep mine in a 10 gallon aquarium with an under tank heater. They need to be kept around 90 degrees. I feed mine crushed dog food, mango baby food, apple sauce, grated carrots, fish flakes, crushed cereal and Flukers Cricket Quenchers.

i used to breed lobster roaches, super easy..but they can climb, i just put some vaseline around the top of their container. it's also hard for them to climb anything when coated with calcium powder.

just add heat and food and they will breed like rabbits.

IMO, unless you buy about 1000 of either species, i would give them at least 2-3 months before i start feeding them off, just to make sure they are breeding and are now an established colony that will continue to produce feeders for you. but thats up to you.
