Well if you get B. dubia they can't climb glass or fly. Plus if they escape they're not suppose to survive at room temps. But according to Snake Eyes they can. Of course I'm not sure what species of roach he's breeding, it might not be B. dubia.

Well they are a tropical species and I got a starter colony in March that is just now breeding. They breed and mature faster if kept warmer. But once you have a colony that is breeding well and producing lots of babies, you can turn down the temps some. Still, I hear that room temp is way too cool for B. dubia.

I won't deny that if they are kept warmer they'll breed faster, however with that said I purchased 52 on 02-15-2007 and since have sold/gave off over 2.000 and I still have a colony estimated at 2,000+ so I'd say room temp has worked out pretty well.

It's too bad you didn't live close to me because I'd gladly give you as thousand or so.

She's a bio major and wont let you keep roaches? What's up with that?

I guess that's an advantage of not having a gf at the moment-also the fact I'll probably be traveling to other states/countries doing internships over the next couple years, and I currently don't have to be tied down by anyone

No, she won't let me keep roaches b/c of the possibility of them infecting the house. She is a Bio major, so telling her that they are beetles won't work.
